Ilha de Moçambique: mercato del pesce.

Per questo settimo workshop di fotografia di reportage con il fotografo Edoardo Agresti una novità. Non solo una location incredibile che è stata l’argomento della tesi di Francesca Guazzo che ci farà da guida, ma anche per la modalità con cui questo workshop è organizzato. Non un viaggio itinerante, ma la possibilità di vivere un luogo e di tirarne fuori l’anima attraverso la fotografia.
Ilha de Moçambique è un’isola che ha una storia incredibile. E’ un mix di culture, è Patrimonio dell’Umanità, un luogo mitico, un’isola-non isola. Al suo interno vivono grandi contraddizioni e certamente uno dei temi forti che si possono leggere è quello del doppio. Ha due anime, una nera ed una bianca, due architetture, è un concentrato di culture differenti, ma una grande armonia e poesia vivono come congelate dal tempo. Vivere alcuni giorni a Ilha de Moçambique è essenziale per comprendere la storia del Mozambico, la cultura. L’isola di Mozambico ha dato il nome all’intero Paese.
Nel suo nome c’è la grandezza del suo passato.

“Realities you know, stories “around the corner” are often the best source of inspiration for a photographer.
I was in Malawi, in a small village a few kilometers outside the capital city, Lilongwe, where I live. The rainy season was nearly over and the light perfect for a black and white photo.
Annine was playing with her doll made of mud, prepared with great care in details; Vero on the background was looking at me protecting herself with a cotton cloth that “recalled” the same pattern of Annine’s T-shirt. These were the elements that drove me to take pictures.
I stayed with them some time for some more shots.
Later, reading the words of an Italian writer, I noticed they were perfect to tell this shot.” © Stefano Pesarelli

The shot is the last act of image capturing and in many ways the easiest part of the whole process.
